NOGALES, Ariz. — A shooting involving a US Customs and Border Protection agent has closed a port of entry in Nogales, the agency said Wednesday night.
The shooting happened at the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, officials said. One person was injured and flown to a hospital in Tucson for treatment.
No officers were injured and officials said this was an "isolated incident."
Southbound lanes are closed and traffic at the crossing is being directed to the Mariposa Port of Entry. Northbound lanes have been reduced, officials said.
Portions of the port have reopened, CBP said.
Officials said U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security Investigations are responding. The Department of Homeland Security, Office of Inspector General was also notified.
This is a developing story.
