Woman throws 'red liquid' toward VP Kamala Harris' motorcade in south Phoenix

The "red liquid" landed on eight Phoenix police motor officers, police say.

PHOENIX — A woman allegedly threw "red liquid" toward Vice President Kamala Harris' motorcade Friday evening, police said.

The motorcade was traveling in the area of 7th Street and Alta Vista Road when a woman standing on the sidewalk threw a "red liquid" toward the motorcade, according to police. The liquid landed on eight Phoenix police motor officers, police said.

The motor officers were able to continue the motorcade and other officers in the area arrested the woman, later identified as 30-year-old Anasilvia Gomez-Zamora. Gomez-Zamora is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, endangerment and resisting arrest.

Police did not identify what the "red liquid" was or release any information as to why the incident occurred.
