What's next for the Biden-Harris campaign?

An increasing number of voices are calling for President Joe Biden to bow out, but his campaign remains firm and says he is staying in the race.

PHOENIX — President Joe Biden is fighting COVID-19 amidst mounting pressure for him to bow out of the 2024 presidential election race. But his campaign remains firm: the president is committed to running and winning his reelection bid.

12News political insider Brahm Resnik breaks down the second gentleman's visit to Arizona and what's ahead for the Biden-Harris campaign.

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff in Phoenix

The day after Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination for president it was business as usual for the Biden-Harris presidential campaign here in the Valley. Doug Emhoff got Democrats fired up with the opening of their 12th campaign office in north Phoenix.

The second gentleman also visited the WNBA's All-Star weekend and gave advice to Democrats about the increasing voices calling for Biden to step aside.

"This is real. Don't focus on the drama in DC, it's just drama," Emhoff said. "We've got to focus on winning this election. We've won here before in Arizona."

Emhoff did not take questions from reporters during his visit.

Reassurance on the race

Vice President Kamala Harris was reportedly meeting with Democratic donors to calm their anxieties about Biden staying in the presidential race.

Governor Katie Hobbs said Friday she was waiting on Biden's decision.

"It's up to the president whether he does that. I think he understands that people need reassurance, that that's his job in the coming weeks," Hobbs said. "I’m going to stay focused on my job as governor of Arizona."

Biden is still battling a bout of COVID-19 but said on Friday he is planning to return to the campaign trail next week.
