PHOENIX — As the 2024 election cycle continues, authorities continue to work to keep those who run the elections safe from any threats.
Several federal agencies are working together to track any potential threats and prosecute any individual found to be threatening members of the election community in Arizona.
In an effort to support investigations into these threats, the United States Department of Justice announced developments in several election threat cases in Arizona.
U.S. Attorney Gary M. Restaino attended a news conference Monday to share recent developments in criminal cases involving threats against officials conducting elections in Arizona.
Restaino shared updates in several cases involving threats against Arizona election officials and additional resources being used to track possible threats.
He was among other officials from the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force and FBI Phoenix during the news conference.
Other officials who attended the announcement were:
- John Dixon Keller, principal deputy chief, public integrity section, head of Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force
- Akil Davis, special agent in charge, FBI - Phoenix
The event took place at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix Monday afternoon. 12News streamed the news conference in its entirety on 12news.com, the 12News mobile app and the 12+ streaming app.
