Undecided voters will make or break the 2024 election in Arizona up and down the ballot

Voters who are not a part of either party make up about one-third of voters in Arizona, a key swing state for the presidential election.

PHOENIX — Tuesday night, a panel of undecided voters shared their opinions after watching the first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Before the debate, several of these voters expressed why they are currently undecided.

Bonnie, from Cave Creek

In the past, Bonnie has voted for Republicans, but in this election, she said she wants to see a candidate show their “president-like material.”

“My friends and family don’t understand how I am still undecided,” Bonnie said. “They have such strong dislike for either side.”

Bonnie said she hopes this debate will show who is more willing to work with people regardless of their party.

Jeff, from Tucson

Jeff is an independent who considers himself a “McCain Republican.”

At this point, he doesn’t believe Mr. Trump could sway his opinion, but that the debate could be an opportunity for Vice President Harris to prove herself, and convince Jeff to vote.

Denise, from Scottsdale

Denise has been a registered Republican, a Democrat, and for the last three presidential elections, has been an independent.

The key issue for Denise: “I need to see inflation go down.”

Denise did not feel optimistic that this debate would sway her to vote for either candidate and has been researching how to become a write-in candidate herself.

Nicole, from Glendale

Nicole leans Republican, but said right now, she doesn’t want to vote at all.

“I don’t think you can separate character from leadership,” Nicole said.

Tonight, she’s watching for how the candidates conduct themselves to prove they will handle the tough issues as president.

If you are an undecided voter – we want to hear from you.
