ARIZONA, USA — Polls opened across Arizona Tuesday morning and multiple counties have reported that the day is off to a smooth start.
Arizona is already expected to play a critical role in the White House race as it did in 2020, but Tuesday’s state primaries will set the stage for competitive contests that could determine control of the closely divided U.S. Senate, U.S. House and both chambers of the state legislature.
The only hiccup reported so far was one of 222 vote centers in Maricopa County opening about 30 minutes late. All others opened as scheduled.

All voting centers are currently open for operations. As of 8:15 a.m., 7,762 voters have checked in to vote, according to Deputy Elections Director Jennifer Liewer.
"Things are going well. One of the 222 vote centers opened about 30 mins late because the poll workers were locked out but all others were open at 6 am." Liewer said.
Workers at one site had to re-login to equipment, but Liewer said that this wasn't anything unusual with 2,000 poll workers across the county.
