PHOENIX - Police have identified the suspect in a neighborhood crime spree.
Police arrested a man Saturday morning near 7th Avenue and McDowell Road after he set fire to a woman's front door and allegedly killed a man down the street.
The arson and homicide suspect, 38-year-old Curtis Lamont Bagley, was arrested Saturday morning near 7th Avenue and McDowell Road.
Shortly after 1 a.m., Phoenix police responded to a call reporting a man setting fire to a front door, police said.
When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old woman, who told police she was confronted by Bagley when she got home from work.
The woman went inside the house, but shortly after she heard a noise.
She told police that when she opened the door she saw Bagley pouring gasoline on her outer security door and porch.
The victim called the neighbor to help her. At the point, Bagley broke into her house through the back door, police said.
The woman was able to escape with the neighbor’s help.
While police were getting the report from the victim, they heard another call of a burglary on the same street.
Officers responded and found the suspect standing outside the house with blood on his cloths.
When officers went inside the house, they found a 36-year-old man seriously injured lying floor, who later died at the scene, police said. Police identified him as Joshua Fitzpatrick.
Police later found the victim’s wife was hiding in a bedroom.
Bagley has been booked into jail for multiple felony charges.
