Three people have died and at least 58 workers were injured Wednesday in an explosion at Mexico's national oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos or Pemex.
Forty-seven more people who are not employees also were hurt, Veracruz Gov. Javier Duarte de Ochoa said in a tweet regarding the explosion at a Pemex complex in the port city of Coatzacoalcos. He described the explosion as "strong."
Hundreds of people were evacuated, the BBC reported.
Schools were closed, reported the country's civil protection agency, which also said a cloud from the blast was quickly dissipating.
Pemex sites have seen a series of explosions in recent years.
In December, an explosion at a Pemex-operated oil pipeline left 30 people injured.
