Game of Those showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff revealed Sunday that Barack Obama requested and will receive advanced episodes before the premier on HBO, Entertainment Weekly reported.
“When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?" Benioff said at a premiere event for the show's sixth season in Hollywood.
It's a potentially damning revelation for a president whose critics have tried to label him as a Harvard-educated elitist who thinks he knows what's best (and that what's best is that he knows who dies on Game of Thrones before you do).
Like, c'mon, Mr. President.
Obama would be the only person outside HBO to receive advanced copies of the show, which—in an unprecedented act—didn't even send early episodes to journalists (like, ahem, ME) for review, EW notes.
“I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an ‘ah-ha’ moment,” Weiss said, per EW. “That was a very strange moment.”
Obama has publicly nerded out over Game of Thrones multiple times. Show director David Nutter called Obama the "number one Game of Thrones fan in the world" even though he can't even name a single character besides Jon Snow.
And this guy is getting advanced copies of the episodes over humble journalists like myself?
Just, whatever, man.
For the us lowly Americans who don't have our own taxpayer-funded private plane, Game of Thrones' sixth season premiers April 24.
