East Valley lottery ticket now worth over $7 million

The lucky ticket was purchased at a Bashas' store in the East Valley.

MESA, Ariz. — Somebody who bought a lottery ticket in the East Valley has won $7.8 million after Saturday's drawing.

The Arizona Lottery said a Pick ticket purchased at a Bashas' store near Brown and Ellsworth roads yielded a huge jackpot for its lucky recipient.

The winning numbers for Sept. 7 were 4, 8, 15, 17, 31 and 41.

The Arizona Lottery said a Powerball ticket purchased from a Safeway store in Tucson is now worth $50,000 after Saturday's drawing.

Three Mega Millions tickets each produced a jackpot worth $10,000 after Friday's drawing. The tickets were bought at the following locations:

  • Shop N Save Market, 4702 South 35th Ave, Phoenix
  • Circle K, 3402 North 16th Street, Phoenix
  • Fry's Marketplace, 25105 South Ellsworth Rd, Queen Creek

The county contains around 63% of Arizona’s population and is 9,224 square miles. That makes the county larger than seven U.S. states (Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New Hampshire).

One of the largest park systems in the nation is also located in Maricopa County. The county has an estimated 120,000 acres of open space parks that includes hundreds of miles of trails, nature centers and campgrounds.

The county’s seat is located in Phoenix, which is also the state capital and the census-designated 5th most populous city in the United States.

The county was named after the Maricopa, or Piipaash, Native American Tribe.
