State Route 77 reopens both directions near Globe after wildfire

The fire was near milepost 165, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

GLOBE, Ariz. — State Route 77 near Globe has reopened in both directions after a fire estimated to be around 10 acres shut the highway down Monday evening, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

A helicopter, five engines and the Globe Interagency Hotshot Crew are on the scene working to contain the flames. 

Officials from the Tonto National Forest said the fire, now called the Indian Springs Fire, grew to 18 acres and forward progression was stopped by firefighters.
