PAYSON, Ariz. — Fire crews are currently fighting the Preacher Fire, burning 8 miles northeast of Payson since Wednesday, Aug. 28.
As of Monday, the Preacher Fire has burned 3,167 acres according to the United States Forest Service.

How many acres has it burned?
The Preacher Fire has burned 3,167 acres and is 62% contained as of Sept. 16, fire officials said.
"Preparation of the containment lines is complete. Ignitions are planned to begin near Tonto Village on Sunday if weather and fuel moistures permit," officials said.
