MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — Officials say fire crews are battling a new wildfire, the Peacock Fire, burning 20 miles northeast of Kingman in the Peacock Mountains.

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said the fire ignited around noon on Monday and initially burned 50 acres but has since grown to 255 acres. The fire is burning through grass and pinyon-juniper in a remote location with difficult access.  Officials say activity was minimal when the fire started but has increased, and the fire is moving uphill to the northeast.

Containment of the fire grew to 90% Wednesday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
