MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — A California woman has drowned in Lake Havasu after she went swimming with an improperly-secured life jacket, Mohave County Sheriff's Office officials confirmed.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. on Sunday near the Islander RV on Lake Havasu.
Cynthia Marin, 49, of La Mesa, California had jumped from a boat to swim and panicked when her life jacket came off, MCSO said. Deputies believe she went below the water at that point.
Divers from the office's Dive Rescue and Recovery team were unable to find Marin in the immediate area. Eventually, sonar found Marin's body 42-feet deep in the lake.
Officials are still investigating the drowning at this time.
