Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo approaches its final week

Rain or shine, Phoenix Zoo puts on Zoolights through Jan. 10.
The bright orange colors add a different view to the path of trees at the Phoenix Zoo.

The Phoenix Zoo's Zoolights event is an experience you have to try in person. Lights in different colors, lights that change, move and dim are everywhere the eye can see as soon as you enter the park.

The cost to view the Zoolights can be found on their website, www.phoenixzoo.org. Parking is free, and the entire family is welcome to attend the event.

This week, rain is in the forecast, so don't forget your umbrella -- and your camera.

The number of lights used every night starting at 5:30 p.m. are estimated up in the millions. In fact, so many lights go up that they start the process of installing them in July, light them up after Thanksgiving through Jan. 10, and they finish the removal process in March.

Lights that still work will be reused and those that cannot are then recycled.
