Zoe is a winner on and off the field | Champion of the Week

Each champion fits a mold that outshines expectations, especially at a young age. They are surprised with a medal, trophy and a $600 check for all of their hard work

PHOENIX — 12News congratulates Zoe Horning! She was nominated by her parents Colin and Brylee Horning in hopes of being selected as one of our Champion of the Week recipients, thanks in part to Champion Air and Barry Farah for their partnership.

Each champion fits a mold that outshines expectations, especially at a young age. They are surprised with a medal, trophy and a $600 check for all of their hard work.

Zoe participates in multiple clubs on campus at Desert Mountain High School her parents told 12News a little bit about why she should have been selected.

"Zoe is a friendly and kind student and teammate. She is her school's National Honor Society President, Founding Member and Vice President of the Red Cross Club, Doctor Talk club member, international baccalaureate student and association member, and Physics club member. On the DMHS varsity softball team she has hit 4 home runs and is batting .419 this season. She hit two of her four home runs this past week and wanted to recognize her for this, and all of her other student and athletic accomplishments."

Zoe has been exceeding her existing goals alongside her teammates, she followed up to tell us her team won the 5A State Championships this past week and mentioned that "it was a wonderful season!"
