Although we might love those beautiful colors from fireworks exploding in the sky on the Fourth of July, the experience is not as enjoyable for our four-legged friends.
The loud noises of those colorful explosions could scare animals. And for the dogs who have found their forever homes, they at least have their humans to keep them company. Shelter dogs aren't so lucky.
The Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is looking for volunteers to help keep dogs calm at its West and East valley care centers company this July 4.
Volunteers can arrive anytime between 7:30 - 10 p.m. MCACC is asking anyone who wishes to come soothe a pup to bring a blanket, chair and anything that can distract the dog from the noise outside, like a book or song.
No training is required and MCACC says it will hold a "mini-orientation" for those who join them this Independence Day.
Children over the age of 12 are welcome as long as they have an adult with them.
