Here's when Arizona's first Buc-ee's is expected to open

The big question is... when will Buc-ee's open? Here's what we know.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — In about a year, Buc-ee's will open its first location in Arizona!

The City of Goodyear said that work has officially begun at the construction site.

"Where we are standing right now in what, less than a year, we would be in the Buc-ee's store," Jordan Byrd with the City of Goodyear said in a video on social media.

Construction is in the "early grading" phase, Scott Ray, the director of Buc-ee's construction said, which is important for creating a stable foundation.

"So, we get out here and we try to knock it down and then we'll start putting in our utilities and things like that," Ray said.

It won't be long before some Arizonans walk into the mega convenience store for the first time.

"No matter what you've heard, your expectations are going to be blown away," Ray said. "Typically we love it when somebody new walks in, you immediately see their eyes get big as they look around with their mouth open."

The big question is... when will Buc-ee's open?

"If everything goes to plan, we should be open by Christmas of next year," Ray said.

The Goodyear travel center will have 120 fueling stations for passenger vehicles only with a convenience store measuring 23% larger than a football field.  The store would bring more than 200 full-time jobs to the area, the company said, with starting pay beginning well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401k, and three weeks of paid vacation.

The company also often sources its products from local vendors and artisans to represent the local community.

The famous convenience store is expected to bring in 100,000 people every week, which is the same amount of people who currently live in Goodyear.

This beaver-themed roadside mega center has captured the hearts and minds of Texans (and beyond) for over 40 years now.

And it's no surprise that it's so beloved; Buc-ee's is known for having the world's cleanest restrooms which, if you've ever road-tripped down I-10, is a godsend.

Add onto that an entire deli-style service counter for BBQ, beef jerky, fried food and baked goods and you can start to see why travelers will go the extra mile to stop here.
