Police say injuries of woman found dead in Gilbert street were self-inflicted

The woman was found dead on Saturday morning in the road near the intersection of Lindsay Road and Melody Drive in Gilbert.

GILBERT, Ariz. — The Gilbert Police Department said injuries of a woman who was found dead in a street over the weekend appear to be self-inflicted.

GPD told 12News that they were called at about 4:51 a.m. on Saturday about a woman, who was not responsive, lying in the road near Lindsay Road and Melody Drive. That area is just south of the intersection of Lindsay and Baseline roads.

When officers got to the scene, the woman was dead.

Monday, the department said preliminary evidence shows the cause of death was a result of self-inflicted injuries.

"Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time," a statement from the department said.
