Wednesday is opening night for the Mesa Easter Pageant, an event that draws up to 90,000 people from all over the country and the world to the Mesa Temple grounds.
What started as an Easter sunrise service on a cotton wagon 90 years ago has evolved into a 500-plus cast member show spectacular. It's the largest annual outdoor Easter pageant in the world!
This year's pageant is a can't-miss. The Mesa Temple is scheduled to undergo renovations for the next couple of years so this will be the last Easter Pageant until construction is complete.
The one-hour performance is written and presented for all faiths, cultures, religions and ages.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. sharp. It's recommended you get there a couple of hours early because the 10,000 available seats fill up fast! Audience members are also welcome to bring their own chair or blanket.
The pageant stage is located on the grass area on the north side of the Mesa Temple Visitors' Center at 101 S Lesueur.
The free show runs Wednesday through Friday with a special Spanish performance on Saturday. The pageant picks up again March 27 to March 31.
