Police identified the man who died as Christopher Betterson-Bishop, 33.

Betterson-Bishop, the car's driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in the car was taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

The truck's driver was going west on the I-10 access road at the time of the crash, police said.

The crash happened when Betterson-Bishop was driving south on 51st Avenue and he failed to stop for a red light while crossing over the I-10 overpass, police said.
