MESA, Arizona — Mesa police have released camera footage of the light rail crash reported earlier this month in the East Valley.
On Jan. 3, a light rail train was knocked off the track in downtown Mesa after it hit a garbage truck passing through the Main Street and Robson intersection.
The train's driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. No major injuries were reported.
A new video released by the city shows the exact moments when the truck was hit by the moving light rail.
Police officials have said the truck driver had the right of way and the light rail appears to have run a red light.
The crash remains under investigation and no traffic citations have been issued, police said.
Valley Metro said Wednesday the operator involved in the crash is no longer operating light rail trains.
