One man, later identified as 44-year-old John McLaughlin, died at the scene and three people, including a child, were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Phoenix Police Department. One individual had to extricated from one of the vehicles.

Police said McLaughlin was driving a truck that veered into oncoming southbound lanes and ran a red light for unknown reasons. The truck then collided with a small SUV before hitting a Waste Management truck and then came to rest.

Sky12 footage shows a brick wall that appears to have been knocked out in the collision.

Traffic is restricted in this area.
