GLENDALE, Ariz. - Animal Benefits Club announced Wednesday that Delilah the 3-year-old Boxer has died after developing a mass on her pancreas. Delilah was recovering from an untreated case of valley fever and due to her compromised health, doctors could not perform surgery.
Delilah's owners surrendered her for euthanasia in January, according to Animal Benefits Club. After doctors examined her, they determined Delilah was not a candidate for euthanasia and instead needed medication to treat her valley fever.
By the time Delilah made it to the Animal Benefits Club, she weighed less than half the weight of a healthy Boxer her age and size.
Animal Benefits Club Director Andra Jeffers says it one of the hardest losses she has endured during her time directing Animals Benefit Club.
