AVONDALE, Ariz. - Family and friends are speaking about Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Tyler Edenhofer, killed in the line of duty Wednesday night.
Tyler’s aunt, Sue Harrison, wasn’t quite ready to go on-camera but in a statement she said Tyler was always laughing and joking around. Harrison said her nephew had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around.
“I love seeing him and his fiancée together. They adored each other and always had so much fun together, “ said Harrison.
She said Edenhofer was very disciplined when he set a goal for himself, such as joining the Navy and then DPS.
Tyler had a passion for working on his Mustang GT and had a couple of them. He loved “souping” them up.
Harrison said the young DPS trooper also loved motorcycles and recently bought a dirt bike since he had trails around his house.
The Navy veteran meant the world to his aunt, and to his family.
Another close family friend, Joe Seabert, gave the following statement:
“I know Tyler’s mom. She was like my big sister. Tyler was golden, not like anyone you would meet. Purest soul, and touched everyone’s heart that met him. You couldn’t help but like Tyler. Very smart proud, respectful, and had to be the best at whatever it was he was doing. His mother did and excellent job raising such an outstanding man! I will miss you Tyler, We didn’t just lose a loved one, the world lost one to be loved!”
DPS hired Trooper Tyler Edenhofer in September of 2017. He graduated from the Advanced Trooper Academy in early May.
