MESA, Ariz. — A state trooper is recovering after their SUV was hit while parked on the side of the road.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the trooper was helping a stranded driver on southbound SR 87 at Slate Creek Hill when their patrol SUV was struck by a car.
DPS says the driver was an elderly man who said he blacked out before hitting the trooper's vehicle.
