TEMPE, Ariz. — The City of Tempe has identified four new safety corridors where "strict enforcement" of traffic laws will be practiced over the next three months.

The city's ongoing "Vision Zero" campaign aims to reduce traffic collisions throughout Tempe by identifying areas that have been more prone to crashes. The corridors will be studied for infrastructure improvements and traffic laws will be strictly enforced on these streets.

Between July and September, the following areas will be designated as safety corridors:

  • McClintock Drive, from Apache Boulevard to Rio Salado Parkway
  • 48th Street, from Broadway Road to Southern Avenue
  • Baseline Road, from McClintock Drive to State Route 101
  • Warner Road, from Interstate 10 to Priest Drive

At the end of the three-month cycle, a new group of safety corridors will be designated in the city.

According to the Vision Zero website, the city's also "exploring" the use of speed and red-light cameras to encourage more drivers to slow down. A map showing where these photo enforcement cameras may be located can be found here.
