The Miss America competition is changing. What about Miss Arizona USA?

To talk about what the new changes could mean for the Miss America competition moving forward, the 12 Today team chatted with Britt Boyse, President of Casting Crowns Productions.

The recent changes to the Miss America pageant have been a talker online since news broke that the swimsuit competition will be no more.

To talk about what the new changes could mean for Miss America moving forward, the 12 Today team chatted with Britt Boyse, President of Casting Crowns Productions.

Boyse helps run the Miss Arizona USA competition and offers her thoughts on the recent changes.

“I was a little shocked that they decided not to have the swimsuit competition and I think their changing evening wear a little bit I’m not sure on those details," Boyse said. "They can make their own decisions. The feedback, however, and people’s reactions have been very interesting.”

She also said the Miss Arizona Organization is its own organization and its officials can make whatever changes they want.

“First and foremost, Miss America is their own organization. They have the right and ability to make their own decisions on how they want to run their competition," Boyse explained. "There’s pageantry involved but we’re kind of changing with the times a little bit. I still call it a pageant, some people don’t it’s a competition. It’s an event. It’s a wonderful opportunity.”

During the discussion, Paul asked if she anticipates making changes to the way they do things at Miss Arizona USA.

“Absolutely not. We have three equally scored areas of competition, personality interview, evening gown and swimwear. We’re looking for a well-rounded individual and part of that is physical fitness," Boyse replied. "One of the best things about swimsuit competition is what you see on stage is the end of a journey. So young women of any size can choose to compete and what you see at the end is their hard work, the results of that.”
