TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe police say the standoff with a man barricaded inside an apartment in the 5100 block of South Mill Avenue is over.
According to authorities, a man barricaded himself inside one of the units. He is believed to have had a handgun and a rifle with him during that standoff.
The incident started at about 6 p.m. when the man got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend. He allegedly pointed a gun at her and she locked herself in a bedroom, where she called 911.
At one point, the man let the woman leave, and police began attempting to negotiate his surrender.
Roughly a dozen nearby apartments were evacuated.
Authorities deployed three flashbangs into the unit and the man came out a short time later and surrendered to Tempe police officers and SWAT members.
