Teen killed in shooting in West Valley

The shooting happened near the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street on Saturday night. Here are the latest details.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A teen boy has died after a shooting in Avondale, according to the city's police department. 

Avondale police said they were called to the 800 block of 111th Lane at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday due to a shooting. That is near the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street. 

They found a teen boy who had been shot in the head. That boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. 

Detectives are at the scene of the shooting investigating and police say there is no threat to the community. 

No other details about the shooting were released.
