Teen arrested in alleged school shooting threat

Goodyear school resource officer acts quickly to thwart a possible school incident Thursday at Millennium High School.

Goodyear police say a former student at Millennium High School has been taken into custody for allegedly threatening to shoot another student.

According to a news release issued by Goodyear police Thursday, a school resource officer was notified by a student on campus that she was receiving threats through a social media site.

The 16-year-old student advised the suspect, identified as Daniel Hopkins, 18, allegedly posted over social media he was going to shoot the female student during second period Thursday.

The school resource officer made contact with Hopkins at his home located near Goodyear and arrested him prior to him leaving for school.

Hopkins was arrested on suspicion of threatening or intimidating and use of electronic communication to terrify, intimidate, threaten or harass.

Officers booked Hopkins into the 4th Avenue Jail Thursday after serving him with ah order of protection.
