GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Drivers in the West Valley can expect heavy delays Friday morning after a fatal three-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Goodyear.
According to Department of Public Safety officials, a corvette "traveling at a very high rate of speed" crashed into a semi-truck and another vehicle near Dysart Road overnight. Two of those vehicles caught fire.
DPS officials told 12News reporters on the scene that the corvette driver tried to run away from the crash and was arrested by Goodyear police off-site.
Both the driver of the corvette and the driver of the third vehicle are in the hospital.
The driver of the semi-truck was reportedly killed in the crash.
Eastbound lanes have partially reopened — the HOV and left lane are closed. Westbound lanes are still closed and traffic is being diverted at Dystart Road.
DPS believes that impairment played a part in the crash. Authorities did not release the identity of the deceased.
