Man fatally shot after pointing a gun at other driver in Taco Bell drive-thru, Surprise police say

Officers found the deceased man early Sunday morning near Waddell Road and Prasada Parkway.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — A man was fatally shot early Sunday morning near Waddell Road and Prasada Parkway after he allegedly pulled a gun on another person in a Taco Bell drive-thru line, Surprise police said.

Officers were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. for reports of a subject with a gun. Upon arrival, officers found 24-year-old Adrian Garduno with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators learned that a verbal altercation had started between two men in separate vehicles at the drive-thru. Garduno reportedly got out of his car, displayed a gun and pointed it at the other man.

The other man then drew his own firearm and fired, striking Garduno multiple times, Surprise police said.

That man reportedly stayed on the scene, cooperated with investigators and was later released without charges.

The investigation has been sent to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for further review.
