PHOENIX — State Route 87 has reopened after a brush fire forced a closure Monday afternoon.

As of June 5, the fire is 50% contained.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, SR-87 northbound is open again to traffic at the Bush Highway (milepost 199).

The closure was initially caused due to a brush fire in the area.

The brush fire in the area is named the Catahoula Fire, according to Tonto National Forest officials. It started a mile north of Four Peaks Road and has burned approximately 120 acres as of Monday afternoon.

This is a developing story, we will update it as more information becomes available.
