A crash in south Phoenix killed one person

The accident happened at 7th Street and Vineyard Road and roads in the area are shut down as police investigate.

PHOENIX — One person is dead following a crash in south Phoenix on Saturday, according to Phoenix Police

Police say the accident happened at the intersection of 7th Street and Vineyard Road around 7:30 p.m. A 28-year-old man was killed, later identified as 28-year-old Tristian Swain.

Police said the man was driving a motorcycle with a woman on the back when they collided with another vehicle.

Both the man and woman were taken to the hospital. The man died, but the woman is expected to survive.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash stayed at the scene and is speaking to investigators.

7th Street is shut down in both directions at Vineyard Road as police investigate, so drivers are advised to avoid the area.

No other details about the crash have been released and the victims have not been identified.

12News has a crew at the scene and is working to learn more details.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details are made available.
