1 dead, suspect in custody following Valley shooting

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A man is dead following a shooting in Avondale, the city's police department said.

Avondale police responded to reports of shots fired at the parking lot of Number One Buffet on Monday afternoon. The restaurant is located near 101st Avenue and McDowell Road.

When police got to the area, they found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound in a passenger vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Avondale Police Criminal Investigations Bureau are responding to investigate, police said. 

The deceased subject has been identified as Frank Anthony Vitale. 

Avondale police has arrested Roberto A. Trejo, who is facing a charge of second-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
