Juvenile arrested for Phoenix shooting that killed 1 teen, wounded 2 others

Police say the shooting took place near 13th and Van Buren streets.

PHOENIX — One teen is dead and two others are in the hospital after a shooting in central Phoenix Friday night, the city's police department said.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Friday, a Phoenix officer was flagged down by passengers of a vehicle on 7th Avenue that contained "multiple juveniles with gunshot wounds," a statement from the department said. Two of the teens had non-life-threatening injuries, however, one teen was pronounced dead, officials said.

Officers found the original shooting scene at 13th and Van Buren streets and homicide detectives responded to take over the investigation.

On Sept. 23, Phoenix police said they had arrested a teenage boy for his alleged involvement in the shooting. The juvenile was booked on charges of murder and aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
