Multiple people with gunshot wounds dropped off at old Phoenix Memorial Hospital, police say

Police say the shooting took place near 13th and Van Buren streets. The area will be closed while they investigate.

PHOENIX — One teen is dead after a shooting in central Phoenix, the city's police department said. The area near 13th and Van Buren streets is closed while police investigate.

Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue regarding multiple people with gunshot wounds being dropped off at the old Phoenix Memorial Hospital. When officers got to the area, they found four people. 

Three of the people police found — a juvenile boy, a juvenile girl and an adult man — were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. 

One of the people police found — a teenage boy — had life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. He later died. 

Police said the shooting occurred near 13th and Van Buren streets. Detectives are investigating and the area will be closed down for an extended period of time.
