SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The City of Scottsdale is saying no to Satan. The Satanic Temple will not give the opening invocation at the July 6 City Council meeting, as previously scheduled.
In a statement, City leaders say: "The city is not going to deviate from its long standing practice of having the invocation given only by representatives from institutions that have a substantial connection to the Scottsdale community. Therefore we are making other arrangements for the invocation to be given on July 6."

The City of Phoenix recently went through a similar battle before voting to change from opening with an invocation or prayer to having a "moment of silent prayer."
