Roof blown off home in Phoenix during storm

A portion of the roof blew into a neighbor's yard, Phoenix Fire said.

PHOENIX - A portion of a roof of an unoccupied home blew off Thursday afternoon in Phoenix, according to Phoenix Fire.

Phoenix Fire said they were called to a home at Pierce Street and 36th Avenue for a call of roof damage. A portion of the roof had blown into a neighbor's yard during the rain and wind storm.

"It was a strong wind, microbursts I think," neighbor Angel Orozco said. "It was a strong wind all of a sudden because it wasn't windy at all and all of a sudden it was rain and strong wind and it just blew the neighbor's roof off."

Firefighters are now securing the home and said it is structurally safe and there are no hazards inside the home. Nobody was injured.
