Rails delivered to Tempe for 3-mile streetcar project

The project is expected to be completed and operational by the beginning of 2021.

TEMPE, Ariz. - Rails are going to be delivered and stored for the Valley Metro Tempe Streetcar as the project continues to build three miles of rail track around ASU.

The project is expected to be completed and operational by the beginning of 2021.

The streetcar will have 14 stations stretching from Dorsey Lane and Apache Boulevard, run through Mill Avenue up toward Rio Salado Parkway and loop back down Ash Avenue.

The cost of the project is $175-190 million funded by Prop 400 and federal grant dollars.

In the future, the streetcar may extend to Tempe Marketplace and Mesa Cubs Training facility.
