Queen Creek police serve search warrants as investigation into teen's death at Halloween party continues

A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday night for Preston Lord, who died after being assaulted at a large Halloween party.

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. — Queen Creek police continue to investigate the death of a teen at a Halloween party Oct. 28 near 194th St. and Via Del Rancho. Officials said they have served several search warrants after receiving leads in the case, but no arrests have been made.

"We understand that the community wants quick resolution – as a police department, we are committed to a thorough investigation to hold the appropriate people accountable and bring justice to the family," a statement from the Queen Creek Police Department said.

Preston Lord died a couple of days after he was found suffering from injuries in the neighborhood where the party occurred. Neighbors had called 911 several times that evening to report drunk teens running through the neighborhood.

Up to 100 kids were in attendance, according to investigators.

A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday for friends and family to honor the teen.

The J.O. Combs Unified District said community members are invited to gather in the courtyard of the San Tan Valley school at 6 p.m. to remember the high school student.

Queen Creek police have classified Lord's death as a homicide investigation and no arrests have been announced in the case. Anyone with information about the incident can contact police at 480-358-3575.
