The student was arrested for threatening, intimidating, and interfering with or disrupting an educational institution and booked into the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Center.

"We will not tolerate any actions that compromise the safety of our schools and will continue to hold individuals accountable for such behavior," said Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice.

Officers say there is not an ongoing threat to the school.

In a statement about the incident, Queen Creek Unified School District officials said "The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. Administration works closely with local law enforcement when we receive a report that may constitute a threat to student and/or school safety. If a student makes a threat, whether the threat is real, fake, serious, or meant as a joke, the student is subject to disciplinary consequences in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct. Students may also face criminal charges for making a threatening statement."
