Protest march closes Old Town Scottsdale streets

Hundreds of people marched peacefully through the streets where, a week before, there was rioting and looting.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A march protesting police use of force across the country happened in Old Town Scottsdale Sunday evening. Several streets were closed.

Hundreds of people arrived to march through the streets where, just a little more than a week ago, people were smashing windows and spray painting police cars.

It was a very different picture from the week before, as the crowd filed peacefully down the procession route, chanting and carrying signs.

The mayor and police chief even walked with protesters at one point.

The march ended in time for demonstrators to observe the final night of the 8 p.m. curfew. The Arizona curfew expires 5 a.m. on Monday.
