BUCKEYE, Ariz. — Nine prisoners were hurt after a fight at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis near Buckeye on Saturday, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections.
The Department said the fight broke out during outdoor recreation time in the Morey Unit and involved a large number of inmates.
Staff responded and were able to break up the fight and get everyone under control.
All of the prisoners who were hurt have non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated. No staff members were hurt.
Prison officials tell 12News the Morey Unit will remain on lockdown as the investigation into the fight continues.
