GLENDALE, Ariz. — Power has been restored to Glendale after thousands were impacted by a large outage, according to the APS outage map.
At the peak of the outage, 8,967 customers were without power.. The cause of the outage was listed as a "service interruption to a major power line" and started around 3:46 a.m.
"The outages are affecting the city of Glendale. We still don’t know the cause of this outage outside of there being a disturbance to a 230-kV power line that serves the city. We are currently investigating," a spokesperson with APS said early Wednesday.
Officials later clarified that Mylar balloons in the power lines were the root of the outage.
Power was restored shortly after 7 a.m., but APS is still investigating the cause of the outage.
