At one point during the storm, nearly 2,000 APS customers in Phoenix were without power.
APS says power has been restored to all but one customer in this neighborhood near 7th Avenue and Greenway Road.
When the first power pole snapped, it caused a domino effect.
"All of the sudden bam! We heard this big thump and the kids were in the front yard playing," said homeowner Bhrett Perdue.
When he walked outside, he found power lines in the street.
His son Connor saw it all unfold.
"The loudest thing I've ever heard besides a gunshot," he said. "It just went crash."
He said it crashed right after he felt a gust of wind.
"We just saw that power line go down first and then that one and then we thought that one was going to fall down and hit that house right there, but it didn't," he said.
The electricity went out simultaneously.
"Instantly, so we just called 911," said Perdue.
"Get out of my car and I hear this loud bang and the pole that's right in front of my place is down," she said. "If I would have been driving just a little bit slower, then it would have hit me… very fortunate!"They poles fell seconds after homeowner Sherry Swanson parked her car.
APS crews are working to stabilize the poles and re-energize the lines.
