Officers in tactical gear were seen in Gilbert neighborhoods

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office later in the day announced the arrests of three people in connection with the murder of Preston Lord.

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. — Police were gathering in different neighborhoods and a shopping center in the East Valley on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers from Gilbert and Queen Creek were gathered together, according to a 12News photographer at the scene. Police called for people to exit their homes in two separate locations. The names match those listed in lawsuits related to East Valley teen violence. Nobody exited either home.

Sky12 was over a neighborhood in Gilbert where officers were seen in full tactical gear.

Later in the day, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that four people, including two juveniles, had been indicted on murder charges in the death of 16-year-old Preston Lord who died after being assaulted at a Halloween party in 2023.

UPDATE: 4 indicted in connection with the murder of Preston Lord

Mitchell said three of those four defendants were arrested in the East Valley on Wednesday afternoon. One was already in custody.

Mitchell nor Queen Creek would confirm if police contact asking individuals to come out of their homes was related to the Preston Lord case.
