GILBERT, Ariz. — A police situation in Gilbert led to people being evacuated from the area, the city's police department said.
The Gilbert Police Department responded to a Starbucks near Santan Village Parkway in Gilbert for a shots fired call.
Witnesses told police a man entered the Starbucks, pointed a weapon at a patron and then entered a restroom.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots. All employees and customers evacuated the business and no injuries were reported, police said.
Gilbert police secured the area and with the assistance of Gilbert Police SWAT, they made contact with the man, who police found was dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident is still under investigation and was "isolated," police said. Traffic is temporarily restricted near the Starbucks.
