Family of toddler found wandering alone in west Phoenix has been found

According to police, there was a "miscommunication" among the family as to who was supposed to be caring for the boy.

PHOENIX - Police say the family of a little boy who was found wandering alone Sunday in a west Phoenix neighborhood has been found.

Officers found the boy, who police believe to be about 2 or 3 years old, at an apartment complex near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road around 7 a.m. Sunday.

Officers tried to locate the child’s family, but had no luck.

Police sent out an update Tuesday morning saying the boy's family had been located.

According to police, there was a "miscommunication" among the family as to who was supposed to be caring for the boy.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
