A tree in a Phoenix backyard caught fire. Now, 5 people need a place to stay.

Five people were displaced after a tree caught fire and then spread to their home in the west Valley Saturday night.

PHOENIX — A tree caught fire in a Phoenix backyard on Saturday and spread to a home and now five people are looking for a place to stay, according to the Phoenix Fire Department

Phoenix Fire says firefighters were called to the home, which is near 39th Avenue and Wilshire Drive, just south of Thomas Road, around 8 p.m. on Saturday due to a tree that had caught fire in the backyard.

When the firefighters got to the house, they saw large flames that had spread from the tree to the home.

Crews were able to stop the flames from extending any further into the home and are still at the home putting out hotspots.

Five people have been displaced due to the fire and re working with the Community Assistance Program to find a place to stay.

Phoenix fire investigators are working to determine what sparked this fire.

No one was hurt.

This is a developing story. More information will be added when it is made available.
